FEPA to discuss how the European abrasive industry by following the principles of the SEAM Program impacts biodiversity and nature
Paris, France (September 14th, 2020) – Today, FEPA, the Federation of European Producers of Abrasives, announced that the Federation has been approved as an official partner event during EU Green Week, taking place on 19-22 October 2020. With a high-level policy conference in Brussels and partner events around Europe, EU Green Week is the biggest annual event on European environmental policy.
Achieving sustainability in industry presents several challenges: cooperation of the supply chain, intricacies of production process, immediate realistic imperatives vs. what would be nice to have. By addressing its environmental footprint, an industry as a whole can seize new opportunities, respond to consumer demand for responsible products, pre-empt new regulations, and save both costs and natural resources. The abrasive industry has developed a sustainability program, SEAM to help manufacturers and their supply chain in this balancing act of producing responsibly.
“Becoming an official EU Green Week partner gives the European abrasive industry the possibility to showcase the SEAM program’s early achievements in integrating environmental policies and using the targets system to bring an industry into a sustainable path.” said Stefan Sjöberg, FEPA President. “It will be an opportunity to take notes of the lessons learned and hear feedback from members of the abrasive supply chain on what can be improved.”
The webinar “Industry Addressing its Environmental Footprint: A Case Study on the Abrasive Industry” will be held on 20 October 2020 from 10:00-11:00 am. Registration will open at the end of the month at https://www.seam.earth/eugreenweek.
