The European Abrasive Industry reinforcing its presence in Brussels

Paris, France (September 21st, 2020) – The Federation of European Producers of Abrasives (FEPA) has a new Director, Public Affairs, Arturs Alksnis. Based in Brussels, Belgium, he will oversee all European regulatory activities on behalf of the European abrasive industry, utilizing more than ten years of EU and government affairs experience.

“FEPA is strengthening its presence in Brussels at a critical time for our industry,” said Stefan Sjöberg, FEPA President. “With the European Institutions putting sustainability at the core of the recovery efforts following the COVID-19 crisis, it is important to ensure that the European voice of the abrasive industry is taken into account when developing the future EU industrial policy and shaping the regulatory framework.”

Before joining FEPA, Alksnis was working as Public Affairs Manager at UNIFE, the European rail supply industry association. His previous EU-related experience includes working as a Political Advisor to a Member of the European Parliament, as a Programme Manager in the European Commission (DG Regional Policy), and as a Research Associate in the EU Centre in Singapore. He holds Master’s degrees in International Relations and Political Science from Sciences Po (Paris, France) and University of Latvia.
