FEPA Reaches a Milestone with its Sustainability Program

SEAM Program Receives EU Certification Trade Mark from EUIPO

7 July 2021 (Paris, France) – FEPA, the Federation of European Producers of Abrasives founded in 1955, has received the EU certification trademark for its SEAM (Sustainable European Abrasive Manufacturers) program from the European Intellectual Property Office. Companies, members of FEPA, approved in the program can place the SEAM logo on the packaging, which will now certify that their product used a sustainable manufacturing process.

“The European abrasive industry made a conscious decision by launching SEAM in 2020 that it was taking a difficult but visionary step towards achieving sustainable goals,” stated Stefan Sjöberg, President of FEPA. “The EU certification trade mark is a positive reinforcement of the industry’s green commitment and is an encouragement for companies to become more sustainable.”

Indeed, the SEAM program guides member companies to continuously improve on production methods by focusing their effort on specific targets falling under the three pillars of sustainability: environment, labor, economy.  Members of the SEAM program have chosen sustainable targets in 2020 and are now working on improving their performance with a status report to be published in October.
